Against All Odds...

In my last post I promised you a story of a boy who went against his so called fate. Here we go...

There was a young boy, calm, quiet, energetic, who used to think that everything was possible. He wanted to have a sharp mind as “Chacha Choudhary”, he wanted to fly like Superman. Tying a towel around his neck and imagining flying like Superman was a daily routine for him. He wanted to be an army man for Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh were his ideals. He wanted to help people without hoping anything in return for figures like Gandhi, Mother Teresa impressed him. He wanted to be an ideal son, an ideal student, an ideal friend in short, an ideal person. The ideas of perfection were incorporated into his mind right from his childhood by his parents and grandparents. Well enough of this background now. Let me proceed with what i actually want to tell you.

Fast forward few years. It is the time when a child decides her/his career path. They have to opt for a stream to study ahead. It was this time when he started going against all odds. Most of his friends opted for Mathematics, he selected Biology. Fine. Everything was going on well. Then a setback. Pre-medical not qualified. Never mind, life goes on. He went ahead with the stream. Working more or less hard, then suddenly he discovers (or rather his parents discover) that “he was not meant for biology”...nice...great... what now??Five years of study and now this...

So my question to you...what he should do now?? lemme tell you some of his characteristics. He wrote his first story when he was 7 years, made his first toy when he was 6 years, made his first aid box with preliminary knowledge of First Aid at 10, art is like an addiction, photography hobby and the list goes on... the prob..he is somewhat Jack of All Trades, Master of None.

So technically he has interest in virtually everything that can create interest. But this has created a big problem with his career. It seems that despite of hard work, Lady Luck has no interest in him and as though Mr. Fate has a personal grudge with him. In India, already most of us don't go for what we want, but settle for what we get. And if someone decides to go for his desires, why he has to be at hands of the so called fate? May be God knows why...

The whole point of this story is that what governs your future? Is it just the hard work? Or just the fate? Or both? I have a hard time believing about the luck-fate thingy. Yes, you may quote numerous examples stating their significance but even then I cannot completely agree with it. The question for me is why, if there is something called fate, has its hands (if it actually has) in shaping ones future? Why can't a person do what he wants and stay happy and successful?

What is your take???
