Sadak Loktantra (The Road Democracy)...

“Hamari maangein poori karo...” (Meet our demands...)
“Bhrashtachar mitao...” (Eliminate corruption....)
“Dilli chalo...” (To Delhi...)
“Patna chalo...” (To Patna...)

My neighbor Sharmaji said, “Yaar, Yamlok kyun nahi chalo?? (Boy,Why not go to hell??)”.

We will come to his comment later on. First let me define few different types of common men in India. First, the 'most common' common man. He never says a word against anything, he is content with everything he has and everything he dreams about, he never comes forward against any, however unacceptable, deeds of anyone (well, barring his own family and a few neighbors...), but never for a second think that he is a coward. He is silent because he wants to live in peace. He may be silent but inside his heart is agitated and full of grief. Then there is a second type, the 'less common' common man. He faces same problems as the first, but instead of sitting and crying, he comes out on roads shouting slogans, taking out a procession, a rally and goes back and sleeps cursing the government and the system. Then there are 'uncommon' common men. They are the selected few who really press on their demand and want justice not only for themselves but for everyone. And last but not the least, there is the fourth type, the 'partially-loved, maximally-hated common men'. These include all sorts of people who are determined to suck even the last bit of blood and money out of the other three types.

Now just have a look at the remark of Sharmaji. I see his disgust. He is almost 70 years of age now and has seen the democracy of India almost throughout his life. He tells that these things have been happening since past with proper results only in those cases which the 'Fourth Type' feels best suited for them. I can see the pain in his remark.

Have a look at recent revolution. The first three types are on the road behind a few 'uncommon types'. I perceive that most of them do not know what they are standing for or against, but they are so agitated from the inside that on the call of just one person from the 'uncommon type' they came out on the roads. Many learned people are telling that this 'Road Democracy' is actually the first blow to kill the real democratic system. Yeah, right. I am not so learned, average educated, half-witted person. But I would like to ask one thing, “why do these people needed to come out on roads, leaving their homes, jobs, education, aspirations?? why did they need to unite for a common cause??”. The answer is plain and simple, “Because the democratic system failed to do what it was supposed to do, what our founding fathers thought about, what Baba Saheb Ambedkar thought about while drafting probably the best constitution in the world.”

So, if not Democracy, then Road Democracy it is... and yes, stop worrying about laws being made just because of such agitation, because now the public is smarter than ever. They will not support anything which is not having a valid reason...
