These days my Mother Nation is celebrating the success of her children. The great people of this great country are full of energy, an energy which had remained dormant inside them for long time, an energy which was unleashed on a call from a 74 year old Gandhian. People are celebrating the broken egoes of “the chosen ones”. They are celebrating the win of “the forgotten ones”.
But wait!!! Isn't this the country where forgetting any bad things is a common way of life?? Why do you thing “the chosen ones” prevailed for so long and “the forgotten ones” are forgotten so very often?? Why do you think that those, who were to act as priests in the probably most sacred monument for the democracy, started considering themselves as no less than the Gods?? And lastly, why do you think that those with such ideologies are going to act your way???
Yes, I am calling it a half-hearted win because I am not satisfied. I am not satisfied because “the great soul” fasting for our welfare had to act in a “theatrical way” while breaking his fast to prove that this whole movement was not for any particular classification of people, but for all of us, every last citizen of this country. I am not satisfied because, still people are there who think that this is a fight of on or a few people or some specific class of people. I am not satisfied because some portion of our esteemed citizens are not willing to accept the importance of this movement and have been actively trying to give it a political, anti-social, anti-some specific class of people. Yes, I am calling it a half hearted win.
In my opinion, it is too early to celebrate this win. I think the right day for celebrations will be the day when we would have defeated the biggest enemy which is lurking within ourselves, “Hatred”. The right day will be the day when we can be whole-heartedly proud of calling ourselves a “United Nation” irrespective of all the diversity that we have. Trust me, this difference is created by “the chosen ones” for their own benefit. You may know this fact, but you may not be noticing it. Please prove them wrong. What they saw this time was half the picture. Show them the full potential of the unity among people.
