'Anna ki Aandhi' : A Wind of Change...

Lemme tell you a story... A story about a 'common' man. He is 'common' because he represents the majority of Indian Population regardless of cast, creed, or any other thing of that sort.

A man whose daily routine included waking up, going to office, coming back to home, watch news, curse corrupts, forget everything and go back to sleep...next morning same cycle. This was repeated on and on and on... One more thing was very 'common' about this 'common' man, the corruption he faced...paying Rs.20 to TTE while he traveled in train, paying extra cash to middlemen to get any job done on time, paying 50 bucks to traffic police for their 'routine' checks, paying huge donations to get his son into a big school and so on... He was brave enough to endure such 'add on' expenditure on his already heavily taxed income... Then one day hi endurance gave up he decided to resort to either of the two ways...give up and run away from this problem (suicide or kill his family) or marginally better give in and accept this corruption as the part of 'system'. Finally even he took the same path and sold his 'body' to the devil of corruption. I am saying 'body' because the 'soul' is somewhere hidden inside him. This way, everything was comfortable. His earnings stayed with him, taxes payed and all the bribes settled. He was frustrated sometimes, but it is human to adapt to circumstances.

Then, one day he saw yet another 'common' man on TV, an army veteran, a war hero, 74 years old with a spirit of youth. He set out, along with few others, to eradicate the stain corruption from this beautiful nation. The 'common' man saw it, thought about the old man and switched off the TV thinking that he is yet another crazy who is trying to break the system and that he will withdraw as soon as he started... Guess what, the 'common' man was right. That old man was crazy, but he was no quitter. The 'common' man soon realized his mistake and decided to help for the cause. Yes, this now corrupt 'common' man wants to eradicate corruption because he was corrupt by force, not by choice.

This old man is Anna Hazare and the corrupt common man is you, me and everyone else who is supporting this movement. Five months ago, Anna's name was familiar only within Maharashtra, and now everyone is saying that 'he is Anna'. Such an impact of this non-violent movement is there on the people of India. Five months ago, the youth of India, which was called careless and termed sons of Mc Donalds, now have shown their potential and dedication towards the nation. Their mass involvement shows their respect for high moral values. People from all over India, regardless of cast or creed are coming together for a common cause. This has happened after a long time.

I don't know what results we can expect from this movement since I feel there is much more to it than we can actually see. But whatever it may be, on thing is sure for the first time in my life, I have seen the actual picture of India, the actual concept of 'Unity in Diversity'. I thank all the people involved and hope that this wind of change brings a new ray of hope....
