The following article is by Anand Pal, a Resarch Scholar regarding discrimination between students.
It is high time now when India needs to be tagged as a "Developed nation" rather than a "Developing nation". When we all focus to produce more Ph.Ds and attract more young brains in Science and Academics we are hard hit by the social and financial status of research students. Most of us lack assurances for jobs and settlements. We have to cross the hurdles of Ph.D and Post Doc (While most of us losing hope and giving up for better other options).
But to add salt to the wound the CSIR has launched a new scheme for B.Tech students to join M.Tech ( not a research oriented program ) with a heavy fellowship and job assurance too . The real story follows in the next paragraph.
Students after qualifying any of the national level exams join Ph.D and receive in the form of fellowship an amount of Rs. 16,000 p/m for the first 2 years and after doing a significant work the fellowship increases to Rs. 18,000 p/m for the next 3 years. On the other hand, according to the newly launched CSIR M.Tech program it offers Rs. 25,000 p/m for B.Techs .Ironically in other institutes after qualifying GATE the B.Techs get Rs. 8,000 p/m for M.Tech and M.S programs. The story doesn’t end here. The CSIR also assures these PGPRE students appointment for Scientist C posts (pay band 15600 - 39000 and grade pay 6600) after completion.
Now am I wrong in stating that it is a injustice as transparent as glass with those students who qualify various national level exams, dedicate full time for research for less money and no job assurances? On the other hand some students are going to be given huge amount just for attending 4 lectures a day and completing their degree in a time limit with job assurance.
From my point of view this definitely decreases the enthusiasm of the students who are working day and night compromising with the institute facilities and policies.
My Dear friends,
You all have done a marvelous job by fighting against corruption. Now, let us fight for our rights and also to make it sure that better individuals come in research and the better candidate makes way to the best .
Therefore, I request all of you to please unite against injustice till justice is achieved.
Regards,
Anand

Equality is the main responsibility of state, but in current situation all the government policy indicates that, our politician willing to reserve all the resource only for few people. In India only 80% people does not have enough amount to sustain a life and on other hand government reserve IIT’s for rich people. When, we are fighting for the social justice, for equality, national policy going to make a difference in whole society.
